Saree questions, answered

Which saree fabric is best for beginners?

Cotton, georgette and soft silk drape easily and hold pleats well. Tant and other crisp cottons are lovely for daily wear once you are comfortable.

Does the saree come with a blouse piece?

Most of our sarees include a 0.8 m unstitched blouse piece in a matching or contrast colour. It is listed in the product details.

How do I drape a saree?

Tuck the plain end into your petticoat at the right hip, wrap once around, make 6–8 pleats and tuck them in at the navel, then take the pallu over your left shoulder. WhatsApp us and we will send a short video.

How should I care for a silk saree?

Dry clean the first few times, air it out after wearing, and store it folded in a soft cotton or muslin cloth. Refold along new lines every few months so the zari does not crack.

What is the difference between Banarasi and Kanjivaram?

Banarasi sarees from Varanasi are known for fine zari brocade and Mughal-inspired motifs. Kanjivaram sarees from Tamil Nadu are heavier silk with contrast borders woven separately and joined to the body.
